“The primary means of expression in the ‘Everywhere Everywhere’ exhibition is the element of color in painting. Since Ercantürk started using color as a formal element in his paintings, he has exhibited an attitude that aligns with the changing balance of what is ‘normal’ through the application of color lines and areas. However, his production associated with ‘structure’ is undergoing a shift in direction; mounted construction materials such as iron beams, marble cutting stones, locks, bearings, and machine parts replace the diminishing pictorial element with an autonomous aesthetic governed by color itself. At times, this simplification, extending to monochrome, adopts a stance similar to the changing balance of the emerging new order.
Taking its name from the freedom to be everywhere at any moment in our daily lives, brought about by the pandemic, ‘Everywhere Everywhere’ explores the possibilities of color on a defined surface – the ‘canvas’ – through the ‘body’ via the ‘self.’ Ercantürk investigates the effects of color within the confines of a defined space on the surface of the canvas.”
